Human Services Major human services Beacon College's Human Services major prepares students to work in careers helping others. The curriculum enriches the students' understanding of the psychological, intellectual, social, emotional, and cultural development of individuals, families, and groups. To complement their understanding of theory, many courses provide hands-on practical applications.

Field work also provides the benefit of work experience in the student's chosen area. Human Services students gain an appreciation of the complexity of diverse settings while developing the skills required to become members and leaders of this growing industry. The US Department of Labor listed Human Services as one of the top ten jobs on the rise with an estimated 150 percent increase in opportunities as the field of Human Services expands.

Education Minor
The Education minor provides students with an introduction to the classroom setting and the responsibilities of a teacher. This minor does not qualify students for their certificate nor does it allow them to test for certification. The Education minor is an opportunity to build a foundation that enables the student to pursue interest in the teaching field.

Students must successfully complete 18 credits for the Education minor. Some of the course offerings include: Foundations of Education, Educational Psychology, Topics in Education, and Educating Exceptional Children.
