Beacon College Institute for Critical Thinking ![]() Workshops ![]() ![]() At Beacon College, we understand the special needs of students with learning disabilities. We realize that engaging students in critical thinking is vital in addressing the special characteristics that these students bring to the classroom. We understand that students with learning disabilities frequently assimilate information, ideas, and arguments at a concrete level, and as a result, are often unable to comprehend information provided in traditional class lectures and textbooks. That is why Beacon College provides students with a curriculum taught by instructors trained in richly integrating critical thinking activities in classroom instruction. In fact, our distinguished faculty frequently share their expertise, providing presentations at national conferences and practical workshops. Members of our faculty are available for on-site workshops, professional development programs, and in-service events. Contact the Institute for additional information, availability, and fees. Workshop goals include: • developing instructional strategies to improve students' critical thinking in coursework and assignments • helping students find answers for personal problems and situations • creating a campus culture of critical thinking • modeling critical thinking skills to students
