Position Overview:
Assist Instructor in delivering effective classroom instruction.
Primary Functions:
Teaching Assistants enhance the learning experience of students by complementing the activities of the course instructor. They will support in-class instruction and student performance. TAs will assist students in the course with coursework during office hours.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Attend every class
- Take attendance
- Facilitate a discussion section or tutorial
- Hold weekly office hours during Open Learning, during which the TA will work individually with students in the class
- Offer help with projects
- Keep records
- Remind the class of upcoming due dates
- Assist in finding current resources and websites
- Assist with equipment and technology
- Distribute and copy reading materials
- Prepare answer keys or supplementary notes
- Add information and/or announcements to Canvas
Requirements:
- Student must have successfully taken Beacon Experience.
- Student has consistently maintained a professional demeanor and positivity.
- Student has a record of good attendance, punctuality, meeting deadlines, and taking initiative.
- Student should be able to work independently and help students who come to them for assistance.
- Student should have the ability to help others understand the course material.
- Student should have strong organization and interpersonal skills.
