Throughout the summer, the Animal Care Team will work to take care of the animal collection in ANZO Lab 1, ANZO Lab 2, and 2nd Street Classroom 1.

Position Overview:
Throughout the summer, the Animal Care Team will work to take care of the animal collection in ANZO Lab 1, ANZO Lab 2, and 2nd Street Classroom 1.
Primary Functions:
The Animal Care Team must be in the ANZO Labs for every assigned shift, ensure that all animals are receiving their daily diets, change out and refresh all waters, and provide approved enrichment. The Animal Care Team must sweep and mop all ANZO Lab floors and wipe down all counters and tables. Once a week, the Animal Care Team must perform a deep clean where they break down all animal enclosures, cleaning them thoroughly and refreshing them with new bedding. If any animal in the collection requires medication, the supervising faculty member will administer the medication as directed and teach the animal care team how to do so as well.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The Animal Care Staff must be punctual to each animal care shift and be knowledgeable of all the animals’ needs and requirements. If an Animal Care Team member is unable to attend a shift due to illness or unexpected emergency, the Animal Care Team member must email the Lab Manager to let them know of their absence. The Animal Care Team will confer with the Lab Manager if he/she/they are uncertain about the parameters of the position or the job in general. The Animal Care Team will report to the Lab Manager and let them know of any concerns or problems regarding the wellbeing of any of the animals in the collection. They may be asked to complete additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
The Animal Care Team must have completed either one or both Principles of Animal Husbandry and/or Science of Animal Welfare with a B+ or better prior to becoming a part of the Animal Care Team. Any student who completed the course(s) with a grade lower than B+ must conference with the faculty supervisor. The Animal Care Team must be able to demonstrate maturity, a willingness to help and care for the animals, patience, leadership skills, communication, and academic interest in and familiarity with the position.
